Good preaching suggestions
I completed the survey on Sunday. From the survey the sermons for the next year will be outlined. Pastor Mark Batterson and his pastoral team just completed a terrific topical series titled "The Elephant in the Church." They addressed issues like religious consumerism and the way our culture inundates us with images and ideas that mitigate against sexual purity. Mark also spoke about the sense of anticipation that should characterize every believer's life. He used a terrific illustration - you can listen to the message if you go to theaterchurch.com and click on the podcast button. You can see an example of the creative use of video if you click on The Apocalyptic Elephant here.
I can't mention preaching without mentioning my friend Dave Gibson's site corkingoodsermons.com He's creative, practical and expository - a veritable homiletical tri-fecta! He also thoughtfully posts "Walking Papers" to help you apply the sermon on Monday morning - I told you he's practical.
So when you get tired of Swindoll or whoever you listen to, give these a try. You'll be better for it!
