Simple Christmas

When our children were young we had the tendency to fall into the "Bigger is better" approach to Christmas gifts. Not that we were hugely extravagant - orthodontists and school tuition saw to that. We experienced "Christmas creep", purchasing just "one more little thing" until it was "balanced". It was like my early carpentry attempts - I kept sawing the legs and never could get them even.

Fast forward to the last couple of years. Our daughter has a rhyme that is helping us keep our giving simple. It goes like this:
     Something to wear,
     Something to read,
     Something you want,
     Something you need.

It makes our Christmas simple and meaningful. Hope it does the same for yours.

Great little list. For the "something to read" part of the list I'm considering giving subscriptions to this Blog! I.e., a gift that continues to give. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with the rest of us not so literate folk. And Merry Christmas. Ron <
