A Daily Proverb: June 4

In Proverbs 4 we read in verses 20 - 27 the following words of wisdom.

"My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.  Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.  For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.  Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.  Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.  Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.  Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.  Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil."

The thing we need to remember here is that these were not Solomon's words, nor was it his wisdom.  The wisdom of Solomon was from the Lord, and these words are His words.  They are echoed over and over again in the scriptures - I keep thinking back to Psalm 1:

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; ... for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
