Worship musings

I've been reading a new book, Worship Matters by Bob Kauflin (--Bob Kauflin, WORSHIP MATTERS: LEADING OTHERS TO ENCOUNTER THE GREATNESS OF GOD. Wheaton: Crossway Books, 2008, pp. 129-130. ISBN-13: 978-1-58134-824-8.)  A couple of things struck me.  First, Bob's definition of the role of a faithful worship leader.  He says it is to:
magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ
through the power of the Holy Spirit
by skillfully combining God's Word with music,
thereby motivating the gathered church
to proclaim the gospel,
to cherish God's presence,
and to live for God's glory. (p. 55)
He also says that "Faithful leadership doesn't always result in being commended, applauded, or appreciated. Sometimes we'll be criticized for doing what we believe is biblical. ... But experiencing oppositions doesn't necessarily mean we're godly. It could be we're just dumb." (p.60)

This week's Worship Quote of the Week has another clip from Kauflin's book.
