Friends: Part Deux
I've written before about friends I met during seminary. There's a friend I met after seminary in part because of the Dallas Seminary connection. And now he's done what I prayed he would do for a long time. My friend Cecil Price has written a book - or more accurately compiled a book that should be on the shelf of every serious Bible student. Its titled "What does Jesus say about...Christ Speaks To Us Today". Cecil is a Christian researcher. He does custom research for missionaries, authors, pastors, students - just about anyone who needs help assembling material about a particular subject. His research has been a huge help to me with background research for sermon series. It was exactly the lifeline I needed because I didn't have access to the libraries Cecil does - Dallas has some of the best libraries in the U.S., and at one time or another Cecil has probably frequented them all.
He's taken the thing he does best - compile massive amounts of information in a usable, readable format - and applied it to the topics of Scripture. The book is a topical treasure chest of Scripture's teaching on any given subject. It also has considerable "thud factor" at just over 1,900 pages, including appendices.
