While cleaning off my desk
A few blog posts ago I did a recap of some of our summer activities and mentioned the wicker furniture "find" we picked up on our way back from our nieces graduation. The tables are going to go nicely with one of Catherine's summer projects, an antique wicker rocker. She has an eye for what things can be, and it was really evident when she spotted and brought home this rocker.

Wicker rocker - Before
In the picture above she had actually removed the seat bottom. Someone sat in it and broke through, so it needed to be replaced. With her vision of what could be and a lot of elbow grease......

The wicker rocker - after
We found a nice seat cushion at Home Goods (Thanks to Donnalynn for introducing us to Home Goods : -) the cushion is a great color that matches one of the colors in the rug on our back deck. I had my coffee this morning sitting in the "new" rocker. It was nice listening to the rain and enjoying the trees that are behind our condo. What a great way to start a Saturday.
This summer we also had a chance to meet with Greg Hatteberg and a group of Dallas Seminary alums in Virginia Beach. Greg was kind enough to send the pictures.

Catherine and me at the alumni dinner
Regent University served some great barbecue and it was nice to meet several DTS grads whose name I knew but had never met.

DTS alumni at Virginia Beach get together
The couples (from left to right) are: William and Emilie Drinnon, Bert and Kathy Gainor,
Catherine and I and Glenn and Janelle Weaver.
Greg managed to avoid having his picture taken though I found a picture of him here. Greg is seated on the right.
That's another installment in my "Recap of Summer '08".

Hi Alan<
Your wicker chair story reminded me of the many testimonies we have of God's saving grace. Oh we we could see the potential in the lives of others like your wife saw in the wicker chair, and surrender our lives to the challenge of bringing the evangelistic message to them.

Great parallel Sharon! Thanks for the insight - I couldn't agree more. That's what ministry is all about - seeing what could be if God transformed a life.
