Dancing around the third rail (again)

Every church has "third rail" issues - the kind that will get you fired if you touch them (or if you blog about the
: -). Some familiar third rail church issues are:
- the "sign" gifts - are they for today?
- role of women in the church - this one is driven (IMHO) by the incredible freedom women have in our culture
- tithing - some people say that was the Old Testament. Actually, it was only part of what the Old Testament required. If an observant Israelite met all of the stewardship guidelines and commands in the Old Testament, they would give between 35 and 40% of their income. As a pastor, I was always anxious to ask those who advocated "tithing" if they wanted to go by the Old Testament standard!
- Bible translation - Which one did the apostle Paul use? Both sides will claim his support

- "contemporary" Christian music - Paul is appealed to on this one also. In actuality, ALL music is contemporaneous with something
One that I find interesting is found in a thread over at Internet Monk. You can read both sides of the issue at "Is it a sin to be a stay at home dad?"
I would love to hear what you think - especially if you're thinking Biblically.
