Two "little" stories that intrigued me
I've been fascinated for a long time with the way God uses small things. Events and people that are "small" in the eyes of the world are often very valuable in God's scheme of things. When Agur wants to teach some significant lessons from God's perspective, he uses little things:
Four things on earth are small,
yet they are extremely wise:
25 Ants are creatures of little strength,
yet they store up their food in the summer;
26 coneys are creatures of little power,
yet they make their home in the crags;
27 locusts have no king,
yet they advance together in ranks;
28 a lizard can be caught with the hand,
yet it is found in kings' palaces.
This story by Julia Duin about two "small" stories is another reminder of how God often works. It makes a point that I've been pondering while trying to ignore the jet-whine level attacks that masquerade as reportage in the vestiges of our mainstream media. Ordinary things are extraordinary when God is in them. God's work is going on ALWAYS, albeit under-reported. The Kingdom is still advancing. And for that I'm thankful.
For the record, "coneys" can still be seen in Israel, hiding in the rocks.
