Il Papa says "The cafeteria is closed"
The New York Times reported last week about the visit of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Italy, including her audience with the Pope (Hence the Il Papa in the title - loosely, Italian for "the Pope"). In "Visiting Pope, Pelosi Hears a Call to Protect Life", the Times reported that Pelosi's official press release did not note the substance of the private conversations. Interesting to observe that the Vatican did not release a photo of the audience - the Vatican's way of showing displeasure. The Vatican's official press release was a thump on the forehead for all the cafeteria Catholics who inhabit politics:
“His Holiness took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church’s
consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death which enjoin all Catholics,
and especially legislators, jurists and those responsible for the common good of society, to work in cooperation
with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all
stages of its development.”
The Kennedys, Kerrys, Bidens, et al should take notice. The Catholic Church is pro-life.
