Pull the trigger
There are deer hunters who get "buck fever". They talk all year long about hunting season but when they get a deer in the sights, for some unknown reason they cannot pull the trigger. There are churches that talk (like some hunters) endlessly about "reaching the culture" but when it comes down to "drawing the net" for a harvest they can't get it done.
James MacDonald's blog puts a point on the discussion about reaching the culture. It's worth reading if you are really concerned about "reaching the culture". The bottom line quote:
"Cultures don’t come to Christ, individuals do."
I'm still going to write (often) about reaching the culture but I'll always keep MacDonald's words in mind. Oh, and when I get "fish in the net" I'll make sure to draw it. I apologize in advance for the mixed metaphor. Scripture doesn't talk a lot about hunting but fishing seems to be a big thing with Jesus' disciples.
