Bright lights, big city

My office mate was married two weeks ago in a low key civil ceremony. They held a reception Saturday night at the Capital Hill Club. Named because it's on - of all things - Capital Hill. It was a beautiful reception with great food and alot of terrific people.

For me one of the highlights of the evening wasn't the cake - as good as it was   It was the "decorations" in the room. The Capital Hill Club is a Republican club so the portraits on the wall are of Republicans from Lincoln on to Ford, Reagan and both Bush 41 and 43.  There are a couple of large display cases full of elephants from around the world.

Me, with a couple of hundred elephants

Seeing all of the elephants reminded me of my "adopted" grandmother, Amy Lingenfelter. She was a lifelong Republican who collected - elephants, of course. She would have loved it!

"Big Granny" Amy was the first picture I got when you said elephants. You brought back a lot of good memories.
