Beginning and continuing
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind - September in our family can be like that. Our anniversary (37 years this year), the birthday of both our son and our daughter, then my b'day at the end of the month make it a month to eat cake. This one was even more special as we sent our son on a journey a long time in the making. Friday morning we took him to the airport where he left for a year in Afghanistan.

Traveling light: Matt loads a large duffel bag and a backpack
into the car. Enough for a year.
He's going with a company providing logistics support in Afghanistan. They recently won the contract and he said "Yes" immediately when they asked if he was able to deploy to Afghanistan.

Saying goodbye at Dulles Airport: A "Mom" hug
This one has been a long time in the making - he's been working toward it for several years. Needless to say we're happy for him. Proud as can be. All the things you might imagine. You'll undoubtedly notice a new-found interest in Afghanistan as I blog.

I certainly wish Matt well in his new assignment. <

Pastor Cole,
I'll pray that Matt's year is a huge success and that God will bless him and keep him safe
